Our days...

Here is a little glimpse into an average school day for us. Actually, I'm leaving out all the boring, get-ready and get-to-school, wait around all day impatiently for Sydney to get done with school so we can go PICK HER UP stuff...who wants to hear about that? It's once we pick Sydney up at school that things get fun!

So, everyday at 2:50pm Patrick and I leave for our brisk little walk to Sydney's school. Over-the-mountains-and-through-the-woods, to gran...Oh, sorry. Somethin' strange ran away with me for a moment. I mean...um...around-the-corner-where-the-hippies-and multi-generational families-live, to-Sydney-Sue's-school-we-go... Ya, something like that. I'm on a lot of cold meds right now, so pardon my weirdness and randomness and spontaneous bursts of cooky childhood songs about wolves that eat kids on their way to Grandma's house. Who thought that song was cute, by the way?! Wait! Am I getting the song and the nursery rhyme confused? Well irregardless (Ha! Who, at this moment, is cringing at my flippant usage of such a hideous NON-word? My brother would cross his eyes and snort at me if he heard me say irregardless! Wow...what's wrong with me tonight????), the story/song should never be told to young children. Seriously!

Where was I? Oh...on our way to school. I'm sick. So let me just show you:

Charlie...runnin' like there's no tomorrow.
He confidently chases the squirrels everyday through the park...
always hopeful that he'll catch one. Ya right, slowpoke!

Almost, boy. Almost.

And this. THIS. What is this nasty, horrifying, gag-me-with-a-spoon (or a pot of spittle) crap that is ALWAYS strewn about his face after he chases the squirrels? Someone, please tell me, what is wrong with my dog? It's so, SO disgusting.
Please excuse me for a moment whilst I go vomit!

That's Syd's teacher in the background. She escorts the cutie-pie kindergarteners outside everyday to be dismissed and this is where I pick her up...while Patrick and Charlie wait outside the school boundaries. No Dogs Allowed. Poor, Big, crap-on-his-nose Charlie.

Along the pathway, down to the park (the one that we walked through to get Syd and where Charlie chased the squirrels and grew his slimy, spittle nose), we gather our posse. I don't know when this began, but there is this group of adorable kids that walk to the park after school everyday and they love us (and Charlie)...and we love them...and they're so cute...and a couple of them barely speak English...and I just love them...and here they are....truckin' it down the path...

...and sometimes they race and Patrick tries really hard to beat the 5th graders...but sometimes he doesn't. Poor Patrick. Poor barf-on-his-face Charlie.
The Posse.
L to R: Anahi, Natali, Fernando, P-dub, Elijah, Jesus (pronounced Hey-Suess, people!)
There are a few more kids that form this little group...but I didn't catch 'em in this pic.

Ah. Sunshine.
Ah. Laughter.
Ah. Cutie-Pie, Melt-my-heart Darling who won't pay any attention to me when I'm constantly snapping pics of her.

I really wish this picture was better because you would get to see all the kids swinging normally and Sydney dancin' in her saddle. So funny (to me, of course...and I realize that YES I'm her mother and only mothers think things like this are funny...humph.
PS. That's the DayQuil talkin!).

Gotta love that smile!
So cuddly.

You have quite a charismatic daughter, Lindsey! Her hair is actually flowing in every single picture you took. Which by the way, those photos are fantastic!!

I have to agree you are pretty great with that camera of yours. The light and everything is fantastic. I love it that you have cool kid friends. Part of your future I suppose.

What a great story, Linds. I love being able to picture part of your life! It's cool to hear about the people God's placed around your fam's life.

Love the swing pic (enlarged it by clicking on it). :) Love Syd always doing her own thing.

I also think it's very cool that she is going to a school with such a large minority population. (This coming from the teacher that only has ONE child in my afternoon class without blue eyes.)

I loved this post, Linds! Playing at the park everyday w/ the same group of kids sounds wonderful--I bet they talk to their parents about your family and how great you are! The 2nd to last pic (I think) of Syd is amazing! Gail
