There are so many new, fun experiences to be had in KC. Last week Patrick and I met a friend downtown for First Friday. On (big surprise) the First Friday of every month in the downtownish Crossroads district, there is an open art show. Basically, a bunch of art galleries open up in the evening and people just walk around from gallery to gallery gazing thoughtfully at art that makes no sense whatsoever. Please...don't tell anyone that I didn't understand it! It will RUIN my artsy-fartsy image. Ok, seriously. Some of it did fall into the "don't get it" category for me, but some of it simply made me want to yank all $2500 worth of it right off the wall and take off runnin' because it should BELONG TO ME! It is so...artsy. I like to think of myself as artsy, though I can barely draw a house with a stick figure family...and my child laughs at me. But, still. I like red shoes. Doesn't that make me some kind of arsty?
And there are musicians and fire-throwin'-belly dancin' girls on the corner, gyratin' to rythms beat out on trash cans and metal folding chairs. Like I said, artsy. Oh, and there's a teeny-bopper rock band on another corner...and open-air restaurants...and booze. Like I said, artsy. Hold it! Booze isn't art, you may say. But I heartily disagree because, just like art, some of it makes you gag and some of it inclines within the mind the urge to grab it and run. Enough said!

I've been wanting to go to Crossroads for awhile but never manage to A) get off work in time to make it down there before it gets too dark and B) have anyone to go with...the hubby isn't "artsy".
I think red shoes make you artsy. I know so because I, also, own a pair.
Sometimes, when I just want to smile, I come look at the above picture of you and your hilarious caption. You are just too funny.
